Gala to benefit neonatal intensive care unit

The smallest patients at Southeastern Regional Medical Center (SRMC) will be in the spotlight and will benefit from the funds raised at the Southeastern Health (SeHealth) Foundation’s 24th annual gala, “Le Cirque de Rouge.” The black-tie event, which is set for Friday, Feb. 26 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Southeastern Agricultural Center in Lumberton, will raise funds to help support the expanded neonatal intensive care unit at SRMC, which is the hub of SeHealth.

Locklear takes good health to heart

For the past eight years, Daisy Locklear, 68, of Lumberton, has made a conscious effort to not only attend but also participate in Southeastern Health Heart and Vascular’s annual Take it Heart: Red Dress Luncheon and this year is no exception.  She has become an advocate for the heart center since she was a patient and had two stents placed during cardiac catheterization in April 2008.

S.P.A.C.E. program pilot a success

If you or someone you know has ever been diagnosed with cancer, you’ve undoubtedly felt or observed the energy draining effects of the treatment.  Though a life-saving measure, the effects of cancer treatment  can have a profound impact on quality of life for the cancer patient.  When energy levels drop because of cancer treatment, so do activity levels.  The risk for cardiovascular disease increases as activity levels decline.
