Paint Robeson Purple

In honor of National Recovery Month, the Substance Misuse Awareness and Recovery Taskforce is launching the Paint Robeson Purple campaign. During the month of September, Robeson County residents are being encouraged to show support for their community members in recovery by decorating their homes and work spaces, wearing purple and creating 30 second videos. Photos and videos can be shared on our Facebook page and those that earn the most shares and likes will be recognized. We will also have a logo contest where people can create a logo for our annual Substance Misuse Awareness and Recovery Taskforce Recovery Fest beginning in 2018.

Substance misuse impacts many Robeson County residents, and it’s important that the community show support to those who are working hard in their recovery.

“National Recovery Month is the perfect opportunity for the Robeson County community to collectively support those in recovery with visible events that bring about awareness,” said Robeson County Treatment Court Program Director Valerie Comrie. “It is a win-win, because if one person rises out of addiction and into recovery, we all win!”

This initiative is being organized by a variety of Substance Misuse Awareness and Recovery Taskforce members including myself, Comrie, Kayla Oxendine, and Richale Reed, with assistance from volunteers Ghee Robinson and Kristian Phillips.
