Festival of Trees is sharing “Collected Memories”

Southeastern Hospice’s annual Festival of Trees will share “Collected Memories” during this year’s 32nd festival, which begins Sunday, Dec. 3 at 1 pm.

The annual holiday benefit for Southeastern Hospice, Southeastern Health’s not-for-profit program of care for terminally ill patients and their families, will kick off this year’s celebration with a preview party for sponsors and decorators on Saturday, Dec. 2 with featured speaker N.C. State Senator Danny E. Britt, Jr.

The Festival, which features exquisitely-decorated theme trees, is being held in the Osterneck Auditorium at 102 N. Chestnut Street, directly across from the Robeson County Public Library, Sunday, Dec. 3 from 1 until 5 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 4 and 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Fresh-baked goodies, specialty food, crafts and gift items, such as holiday ornaments, wreaths and centerpieces, are being sold in the Festival’s Santa Shop, which operates only during the days of the Festival.

A special Memorial Tree, which features the names of Southeastern Hospice patients who have passed away over the past year, will also be featured at the event.

“This is an exciting time of year as we kick off the Christmas season with trees that are lovingly decorated by local artisans and are sponsored by our community businesses and individuals who support the exceptional care that Southeastern Hospice brings to this region,” said Festival Coordinator Ann McLean.

Tickets for the festival may be purchased at the door.  Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and children over the age of 12. Southeastern Health employees who present a badge, children under 12, and members of Southeastern Health’s PrivilegesPlus program who present their membership card will be admitted at no charge.

All proceeds benefit Southeastern Hospice, Southeastern Hospice House and Camp Care, a summer camp for children ages 8-16 who have lost a loved one, and donations are tax deductible.  For more information about the Festival, call (910) 671-5007.

Southeastern Hospice’s Annual Festival of Trees event opens Sunday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Osterneck Auditorium in Downtown Lumberton and benefits Southeastern Health’s Southeastern Hospice, Southeastern Hospice House and Camp Care.
