What does it cost
The cost to family for one child to attend the weekend of activities, meals, transportation and accommodations is $20 per child. Scholarships are available through philanthropy. However, this is not a true representation of the actual cost per child. Any donations to help defray other associated expenses are appreciated.
How are children referred?
Camp Care hosts children from all parts of our service area and occasionally others. The grief experiences of the children are the result of long and short term terminal conditions, accidents and trauma, including murder and suicide. They were referred to us by the school social work and guidance personnel, clergy, counseling professionals, social service agencies and of course, children and grandchildren of our own hospice patients. The camp is NOT restricted to children of families served by Southeastern Hospice. However, priority is given to Hospice related applicants as well as those who are suffering intensified grief experiences affecting their ability to thrive emotionally.
