Southeastern Regional Medical Center announces the opening of a new affiliate, Southeastern Eye Clinic. Ophthalmologist Richard R. Beauchemin Jr., M.D., has joined the medical staff of Southeastern Regional Medical Center and provides care at the clinic, which opened on Tuesday, Nov. 1. A native of Baltimore, Md., Dr. Beauchemin earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore in 1983. He completed a general surgery residency at The Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., in 1985. He also completed a three-year residency in ophthalmology at The Washington Hospital Center in 1989. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Beauchemin practiced his medical specialty in Sylva, N.C., for more than 20 years. His special interests include cataract surgery and other ophthalmoplastic procedures.
He and his wife, Sandra, have six children and plan to relocate to Lumberton in the near future.
