Southeastern Regional Medical Center and the Foundation’s way of bringing in a new year! This black tie event is a highlight of Robeson and surrounding counties. Each gala supports a different project within the Medical Center, with Gibson Cancer Center, Southeastern Heart Center, The Ribbons for Cancer Recovery Endowment Fund, and WoodHaven Nursing and Alzheimer Care to name a few have received funding from this event.
The 20th annual event was held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Southeastern Agricultural Center in Lumberton. A Legacy of Giving Gala hosted over 500 guests with live entertainment by The Fantasy Band and heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by TarPackers of St. Pauls. More than $112,000 was raised for Southeastern’s Gibson Cancer Center and the Ribbons for Cancer Recovery Endowment Fund. Gala Chairs were Mrs. Obbie Lee (Betsy), Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ivey (Jennifer) and Mr. and Mrs. Henry McDuffie (Julia), all of Lumberton.
Be sure to save the date of Friday, February 22, 2013 for the 21st Annual Gala!

Southeastern Regional Medical Center Foundation hosts the Annual Swing for Good Health Golf Tournament each May. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy an exciting day on the greens while supporting the needs of the community. The day isn’t just about golf, though. Southeastern Regional Medical Center Foundation uses the proceeds raised from the tournament to support the Academic Scholarship Endowment Program. The Academic Scholarship Endowment Program provides financial assistance to students in Robeson and surrounding counties who wish to pursue careers in the medical, nursing and allied health care professions.
The SRMC Foundation Advocates hosted the first annual Boots and BBQ, November 18, 2011 at the Carolina Warehouse. The event provided funding for the BakPak Pals Food Program. This program is a partnership between Southeastern Regional Medical Center (SRMC), Communities in Schools (CIS), the Mayor’s Committee for the Disabled and the Public Schools of Robeson County (PSRC) that targets low-income students at West Lumberton Elementary, W.H. Knuckles Elementary, and Tanglewood Elementary to provide bags of food for students to take home during the school year for the weekends. Bags are stuffed with non-perishable food items at Southeastern Hospice House’s kitchen and distributed by volunteers. There are plans for expansion of the BakPak Pals program to other schools in the future.
