Southeastern Hospice will hold a new volunteer training course on Monday and Wednesday mornings beginning March 3 and ending March 28 from 9:30 AM - noon at Southeastern Home Care Services, 2002 N. Cedar Street, Lumberton. NC 28358.
Southeastern Hospice volunteers serve patients and families in the home as well as performing administrative duties at Southeastern Hospice House. All volunteers must complete the 20 hours of training. Before registering, please be sure you can attend each and every session.
Volunteers that travel to the homes of their patients provide a variety of services which might include sitting with the patient while the family takes a break, encouraging and supporting the caregiver through conversation and affirmation, bringing a meal or some food item, and just being a good friend.
Southeastern Hospice House volunteers are needed at the reception desk, to keep the family kitchen clean and in order, perform administrative tasks and much more.
Hospice volunteering is challenging work that requires that some attention be given to a variety of subjects. We think the training course we offer is intense, comprehensive, and interesting as well as educational. We will supply reading materials and a loose-leaf notebook in which to keep all your information together.
While all are welcome, we have a dire need for male volunteers!
