Diabetes Community Center

Gibson Cancer Center is a comprehensive outpatient center for providing radiation oncology, chemotherapy and hematology services to cancer patients. With its state-of-the-art equipment and advanced software, radiation oncology professionals can deliver Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) in addition to Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), which allows for more precise treatment with higher doses of radiation to the tumor and less irradiation to healthy tissue. This technique results in fewer side effects for patients. In addition to chemotherapy, medical oncologists at the Center offer care for patients suffering from blood disorders.
Also available are the comprehensive support services of an on-site pharmacy and laboratory, information resource library, oncology therapist and dietitian. Southeastern Center for Audiology
Southeastern Center for Audiology is staffed by doctoral level audiologists who are experienced in the diagnosis of hearing loss and fitting of hearing instruments in patients of all ages. Southeastern Community Alternatives Program (CAP)
Southeastern Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults (CAP/DA) provides a package of services to allow adults (age 18 and older) who qualify for nursing home care to remain in their private residences. The program contributes to the quality of the participants and their families/caregivers, while providing care that is cost-effective in comparison to the Medicaid cost for nursing home care.
Southeastern Community Alternatives Program for Children (CAP/C) provides home and community based services to medically fragile children who, because of their medical needs are at risk for institutionalization in a nursing home. Examples of children who may be eligible for CAP/C include children with ventilators, tracheotomies, feeding tubes, severe seizures, and those children who need help with activities such as bathing dressing, grooming and toileting when the child, for medical reasons, is not able to do or learn to do those tasks independently.
The Southeastern Heart Center combines various diagnostic procedures, surgical treatments, medical management and percutaneous procedures, all focused on heart disease. The Heart Center provides diagnostic services and treatment programs for adults with heart disease in an easy-to-access location at Southeastern Regional Medical Center—Southeastern Health's hospital campus. We have partnered with Duke Medicine to ensure a high-quality program.
The Heart Center includes the following clinical areas:
- Cardiac cath lab
- Cath lab holding area
- Cardiothoracic operating rooms
- Cardiovascular intensive care unit (CV-ICU)
- Cardiovascular intermediate care unit (CV-IMU)
Southeastern Health offers full-service heart, thoracic, and vascular procedures, including:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABG), a surgery that can improve blood flow to the heart by providing a new route, or “bypass”, around a section of blocked or diseased arteries
- Valve surgery, repair and replacement of cardiac valves
- Electrophysiology services for implantable cardio-defibrillators
- Pacemaker implantation
- Percutaneous Cardiovascular Intervention (PCI), a non-surgical procedure in which several methods may be employed to clear blockages in the arteries, allowing blood to flow normally. Some of the more common methods include:
- - Angioplasty, where a balloon-tipped catheter is inserted into a blocked or narrowed artery and inflated to clear the blockage.
- - Stent placement (including drug-eluting types), where a tiny cage-like structure helps keep open arteries cleared by angioplasty-for heart as well as lower extremities.
- - Thoracic surgical procedures for treatment of diseases of the chest and lungs, such as removal of lung cancers or chest masses.
Southeastern Home Care Services
Southeastern Home Care Services offers a complete range of skilled nursing care along with physical, occupational, and speech therapy services, as well as case management for eligible people in their homes. Southeastern Home Health
Southeastern Home Health can provide services after a hospitalization, a doctor office visit. Many patients are any need of additional care after these contacts. Home Health Care can provide the physician-ordered care, medical supplies and equipment to meet a patient’s needs. Home Health Care encourages and teaches patients to participate actively in their own care. Home Care service may include medical, nursing, social, or therapy treatment and/or assistance with the essential activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing.
Tele Health allows technology to provide medical/health expertise across our community. Patients in distant areas can stay connected with their doctors from the convenience of their own home. This increased knowledge is known to improve patient’s health and decrease patient’s anxiety.
Southeastern Home Medical Equipment
Southeastern Home Medical Equipment is a one-stop resource for medical, respiratory, and rehabilitation equipment and supplies. It is accredited by The Joint Commission Accreditation (TJC). Equipment and supplies available through Southeastern Home Medical Equipment may be purchased or rented using private payment, Medicaid, Medicare, or third-party insurance. A physician order is required for Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance.
Examples of our inventory include:
- Ambulatory aids: wheelchairs, crutches, walkers
- Basic living equipment: bedroom and bathroom safety supplies as well as catheter, ostomy, and incontinence supplies
- Respiratory equipment : CPAP and BIPAP devices
- Rehabilitation equipment : prosthetic devices, braces, shoes, and supplies for people with diabetes
- Pediatric services: apnea monitors, oxygen, phototherapy
- Wound-care and sick-room supplies: bandages, tape, surgical gloves
- Bariatric equipment : hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs
Our highly- trained staff provides education and demonstrations of our products. Therapists are also available to provide clinical respiratory services in the home, as well as management of sleep disorders and neurological conditions.
Southeastern Hospice provides quality end-of-life care to terminal patients no longer seeking curative treatment. Our professional staff of nurses certified nursing assistants, chaplain, social worker and volunteers assist the patient and their family in meeting physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Hospice is a service, not a place. The hospice team comes to the patient’s home, whether that is in their private home, nursing home, or assisted living facility to provide this full umbrella of care. Covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance companies, the hospice benefit includes all medications, medical equipment, and services required to treat the terminal diagnosis. Southeastern Hospice House offers the most up-to-date medical care and comfort measures for patients as well as a soothing, comfortable and friendly atmosphere for family members and friends. Fitness services, located in this 45,000-square-foot facility on a six-acre campus, offers single or family memberships to the general public that provide a wide range of fitness and recreational opportunities, such as cardio exercise, strength training, group exercise classes, yoga, swimming, and racquetball. Southeastern Palliative Care
To improve the flow of care, Palliative Care communicates the treatment goals and orders that expect symptoms to change or increase. Palliative Care discusses standards doctors can use to identify the settings most able to ensure access to high-quality care. Doctors and patients must consider the advantages and disadvantages of all levels of care. Palliative Care addresses - emotional, spiritual and social concerns associated with death and dying whether the prognosis is a day or a decade. In addition, Palliative Care can be provided at the same time other appropriate medical treatment is being given.
Southeastern Recovery Alternatives
Southeastern Recovery Alternatives offers outpatient treatment services for substance abuse and chemical dependency in a private and confidential environment. The facility is located at 705-B Wesley Pines Road in Lumberton, N.C. Services are offered six days per week and during evening hours for the convenience of patients who wish to continue to work or attend school. It includes individual, group, and family counseling.
